The Verkhovna Rada ratified the Agreement with the European Investment Bank, under which the state will receive a loan of 300 million euros for the implementation of the project “Energy Efficiency of Public Buildings in Ukraine”

The relevant bill was supported by 335 people’s deputies on July 13. This was announced by the Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Chernyshov.

“The project will expand the capabilities of local governments to carry out comprehensive thermal modernization. This will help reduce energy consumption in about a thousand public buildings, in particular, kindergartens, hospitals and schools. The project is mainly designed for territorial communities, as well as small and medium-sized cities with a population of 20 to 250 thousand. This is extremely important,” said Oleksiy Chernyshov.

The selection of participants will begin in late 2021 – early 2022. Already in the spring, cities and communities will be able to actively participate in the implementation of the project.

The agreement provides for:

  • loan repayment period – 20 years;
  • rate of up to 2% per annum;
  • Grace period – the first 5 years, during which interest will not be accrued.
