Ukraine needs a Building Code!

President of the National Expert Construction Alliance of Ukraine Viktor Leshchynskyi took part in the program “From the First Person” on the Eco TV channel, which discussed the current state of affairs and key problems of the construction industry in Ukraine.

One of the most pressing problems, Viktor Leshchynskyi called the shortage of labor, which affects both commercial and strategic state projects. Currently, the primary task is to strengthen the country’s defense capabilities, in particular, the construction of fortifications commissioned by the Ministry of Defense. These projects are being implemented in front-line zones and regions close to the border. At the same time, according to him, the shortage of labor is felt at municipal infrastructure facilities that ensure the life of cities and villages. Many construction workers are involved in rotation in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which creates additional pressure on the sector.

Viktor Leshchynskyi emphasized that after the war, a large number of Ukrainians will return to their homeland, which will contribute to the country’s reconstruction. An important aspect of this process will be the retraining of personnel and the involvement of additional labor for the implementation of large-scale reconstruction projects.

Viktor Leshchynsky also drew attention to the need to train qualified workers. Trade unions have already launched short-term courses for specialists, but full-fledged training requires more attention to practical training, which is critically important in the construction sector.

One of the key tasks, according to Viktor Leszczynski, is the development of the Building Code.

This document will unify existing regulations and regulate processes in the construction industry, which will contribute to the creation of an attractive investment climate and the broad involvement of international investors in the reconstruction of Ukraine. According to Viktor Leshchynsky, Ukraine has needed this Code for quite some time.
