Is it time to look for the “symbols of Venice”?

… The Kyiv prosecutor’s office is investigating regular pipe bursts near the Ocean Plaza shopping mall in the capital. Prosecutors have launched a pre-trial investigation into the possible embezzlement of budget funds during major repairs of main pipelines. At the same time, according to local leaders, the capital’s communications need a full-fledged comprehensive modernization, since they were laid back in Soviet times. Therefore, their wear and tear, they say, is extremely significant.
President of the National Expert Construction Alliance of Ukraine VIKTOR LESCHYNSKY:
– Yes, underground communications in the heating, water supply and sewage sectors are currently in the worst condition. Comprehensive monitoring of these networks and a mandatory program for their reconstruction is the only correct way to solve the problem. This should become a nationwide, unifying project for everyone. For everyone who plans to live and develop their business in Ukraine.
Just think, almost every second Ukrainian family lives in outdated housing, our communications (water supply, sewage) – all this can completely turn into underground rivers, and boiling water will flood our streets from time to time. Ukrainians deserve not only various PR events to be held and beautiful slogans to be sounded regarding the reconstruction of housing, but people should see real plans for the reconstruction of the country. After all, everything that was laid down during the USSR has already exhausted its resource. It is for the reconstruction of the country that it is worth uniting.
Solving many problems should start with protecting the rights of construction workers, because the emigration of construction workers is caused not only by the difference between European and Ukrainian salaries (not in favor of the latter), but also by working conditions in Ukraine in general. It is worth strengthening the activities of labor protection bodies, which should monitor transparency and compliance with labor legislation in construction. There should also be regular review and indexation of salaries in the construction sector.
I will say more – healthy promotion of the construction profession should become one of the priorities of state bodies. It is necessary to start with school programs and the development of interactive games. There should also be constant constructive contact with representatives of the construction profession. This will allow young people to make the right and worthy choice in the future.
