Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Chernyshov spoke about the plans of the Ministry of Regional Development to completely update the State Building Standards (SBN) by the end of 2024

By the end of this year, the ministry planned to revise about 20 DBNs.

“They (construction standards – ed.) are getting in the way. If we talk about my goal – to increase the volume of investments in the industry, then the DBN are getting in the way. This applies to all the rudiments, for example, the mandatory presence of a garbage chute in the entrance, etc. We plan to eliminate the DBN, which hinder the development of construction and do not affect the safety of the building. After all, if you look at the history of the birth and life of norms and rules, it is obvious that some of the SNiPs are really outdated, they need updating,” he said.

Chernyshov added that his ministry would deal with this issue and added that the process would be accelerated.

“In April, previously developed DBN on the inclusiveness of buildings and structures came into force. Six more changes came into force on June 1. In total, about 20 DBN are planned to be revised by the end of the year, and by the end of 2024, the Ministry of Regional Development will update all 100% of DBN,” he explained.

The minister emphasized that building codes “must comply with the best European and world experience.”
