On August 19, a conference dedicated to migrant workers and the impact of the pandemic on labor migration was held in Odessa. The event was organized by the Trade Union of Construction and Building Materials Industry Workers of Ukraine

Representatives of the National Expert Construction Alliance of Ukraine joined the conference.

Alliance President Viktor Leshchynskyi spoke at a professional discussion “Labor Migration of Ukrainians in 2020 and its Impact on the Labor Market and Employment in Ukraine”.

In particular, Viktor Leshchynskyi emphasized the severity of the personnel “hunger” in the construction industry of Ukraine. “Moreover, in the future, the shortage of professionals will be even more noticeable, because in construction higher educational institutions of Ukraine there is a shortage of students for a number of construction specialties,” he noted.

The discussion also addressed the state of the construction industry caused by the pandemic and quarantine measures, and in particular, changes in the expert environment.

The progress of the state program “Large Construction” was discussed separately.

The Alliance President also took part in live broadcasts of local television channels Dumskaya and Channel 7. Odessa journalists were interested in a number of issues of both national and local importance. In particular, Viktor Leshchynskyi provided expert comments on the issues of outdated housing stock and renovation, which is especially relevant for Odessa.
