Serhiy Bronevitsky, head of the Kyiv City General Plan Institute, talks about what the new general plan of the capital will be like

The development of the new General Plan of Kyiv has been ongoing since 2009. In 2010, the Kyiv City Council approved the Concept of Strategic Development of Kyiv as the basis for the development of the General Plan of Kyiv.

In 2011-2012, the draft General Plan of Kyiv was subject to public hearings. More than 2 thousand specific proposals were received and mostly taken into account.

However, due to the lack of a historical and architectural reference plan approved by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, the draft General Plan was not submitted for consideration by the Kyiv City Council.

In connection with changes in legislation and the adoption of new state building codes, the institute brought the General Plan into line with new requirements. This work is now almost complete.
