The capital plans to implement several important projects for the city with EBRD funds
The main ones are: the purchase of trams and the creation of a transport hub on Kontraktova Square, the purchase of metro cars, the overhaul of the Metro bridge and the modernization of the capital’s district heating system.
This was stated by the First Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration Mykola Povoroznyk during a conference on the topic “Financing in local currency and currency risk management at the local level”, which was held at the metropolitan office of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
In addition, he recalled that a project with the EBRD for 100 million euros is currently being implemented to purchase buses, trolleybuses and metro cars.
A project with the European Investment Bank (EIB) to purchase trams, buses and funicular cars and overhaul outdoor lighting networks is currently being prepared and implemented. This is also a joint project with the EIB and EBRD to improve road safety.
Thus, in the capital, seven joint projects with international financial organizations worth 440 million euros are at the stage of preparation and implementation, the press service of the Kyiv City State Administration reports.
Among the risks, Mykola Povoroznyk named the long terms of project preparation:
“The terms of preparation and implementation of projects often take about two years. If at the state level these are normal terms, then for the city it is too long,” said Mykola Povoroznyk.
